Preparing for Fieldwork and First Insights from the Context Analysis

During the past weeks, I have been moving towards the next phase of the project: the broader context analysis for Bosnia and Herzegovina. This part of the work focuses on mapping gender, sexuality, and family-related policies, and combines two main activities: reviewing secondary literature and speaking with experts who work directly on anti-discrimination and equality issues in BiH.

A significant part of this phase has involved preparing and organising my first research visit to BiH, which will take place in March 2025. This includes identifying relevant experts, contacting potential interview partners, and coordinating meetings.

The initial context analysis indicates that the ongoing process of harmonising the so called Istanbul Convention with entity-level legislation is a key issue that merits closer examination.

In the coming weeks, I will continue collecting policy documents and scheduling interviews, both online and during my field trip. The material gathered during this phase will help determine which policiesand legal changes will be examined in greater depth in the next stage of the project.
